Reboot Ourselves
Isn't rebooting ourselves the first step to rejuvenating the world?

The destiny, the fate, the ultimate. The inevitable quest that one must complete to be fulfilled. The planned endgame that everyone waits for. In 6 basic letters, and one plain word; Future, the thing that gives meaning to hope and expectations. Well, the recent headlines read, "THERE IS NO FUTURE!" Truth be told, there is still a future. Eventually we'll seize to exist in it, but there is an impending story. The only change is that there's a new name for this future, given by mankind's one of a kind sustainability. That name just happens to be 'doom'.
Now, there seems to be a phrase chosen; "NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE!" According to where all of the humanly possible sustainability is pointing, reviving the earth seems impossible. The human brain has become unconsciously desensitized. The front cover of the book may read that we're saving what is ours, but the actual story depicts, 'we are wasting what we don't own.'
There are so many actions taking place around the world as of now, so many labels. "COP28" they say, or put a notice saying that the "PARIS AGREEMENT has been signed." "ECO-FRIENDLY EMISSIONS!" and so on. They say we're going all electric, and another coal mine surges to the surface. So many actions taking place. Scientists and doctors make marvelous discoveries about the biosphere, how it works; maybe a new specimen. But by the end of the day, we forget that we are a part of the biosphere ourselves, or at least we're supposed to be. Now, we've made up our own ecosystem of fake buildings and infrastructure, calling ourselves the divine creators.
Our education gives meaning to our society and apparently make us civilized. But from my perspective, a society can only stay so strong when they have a home. The indigenous tribes seem to live in harmony with the ecosystem across all parts of the world. They may not be familiar with terms like global surface temperatures or consumption patterns; or maybe they are, but none the less, we can say that their lifestyles have protected them and their homes from their own destruction.
The UN government may be may be enforcing various projects, there may be raging protest; but it always washes down to the fact that even the largest of oceans are made from the tiniest of drops. Actions can only have impact when there is true intent behind them, and this true intent has meaning when it comes from everyone. However, this time its different. Be as selfish as you want. Save the earth; not for the future, not for your descendants, not because the earth is dripping tears. Save it for yourself. If you want to be consumed by the air that us murderers have poisoned, be flooded by the cryosphere that is now going extinct, then by all means you can throw away another plastic bag. Because at this rate of climate change, all the doom is sooner than you think. Even the coldest of winters would fear the sharp heat of global warming.
So, lets reboot out minds, and think for once. Haven't we wasted enough resources already? I for one agree. We don't rejuvenate this planet first, but rather ourselves. "EVERYTHING is POSSIBLE!" they say. It means this 'doom' is possible. But it also means that prevention is possible too. Its simply the effort that society needs; encouragement. I think that is the reboot we need, and although we don't have a simple button to press, we can do this. Like Abdul Kalam once said, "it doesn't matter if its the end. Because the true meaning of 'END' is Effort Never Dies." and so, put all the effort that one can, to stop this treachery. For no matter how great a human can be, they'll still fall if there isn't a ground under them.
